Hey guys,
I wanted to give you all an update on what's going on in my life lately. Plus its been a while since I've blogged so I figured I would today.
What's new? Well, I am sure you all have read/seen through twitter or instagram that the cat, Luna, I rescued just had 9 kittens! Its so awesome to see how God designed pregnancy, birth, and life's beginning stages . The fact that Luna knows when to nurse or to lick their little butts to make sure they "go to the bathroom" amazes me. I don't know how people say there is no God when they see something like this take place. So, we are watching the kittens slowly grow up eventually to give them away to good homes. Of course, Bagheera (our inside cat) hates the kittens. This is HIS house and he doesn't want any other cat to come near it or he will hiss and growl haha!
Zac, Ryan, and I are still praying fervently for a lead singer to come along which we definitely know that the Lord will answer that prayer if it is His will. It does get tough waiting though. A lot of times we feel very counter-productive because we can't do much without vocals on a song. But, one thing I do know is that once we do find that right person we are going to have a awesome time creating music again and playing shows. That's pretty much it on the band front.
I have been cutting a lot of my friends hair lately... it's pretty interesting. I really enjoy it! I probably have almost 8 "regulars" now which sounds so funny. It's just a hobby but who knows maybe one day I will open up my own barber shop. That would be pretty cool.
Well, that's pretty much all that's going on in my life right now. I am extremely blessed by Jesus who has given me an amazing wife, awesome family and friends, and an incredible church home. You would not believe what Jesus is doing amongst all of us here in Franklin spiritually. Life is good y'all. I will keep you all updated on the music side of things, hopefully it will take off sooner than later.

Hairdressing is an interesting hobby. My friend cuts my hair and she's the only person I'd trust to do it!

ReplyDeleteI mean you have gone and claimed the last band that you were in is a christian band and yet there's many, many interviews, articles and videos of you yourself saying yourself that Paramore was not a christian band. After the sh** hit the fan, you did a 180 degree turn and said otherwise.
How do we really know that you are being sincere about you faith and how it affect the viewpoints you want to express and talk about? Heck, I wonder if you are saying all of this to try to pull off something like Cartman did "Faith + 1" haha. And I wonder too if there's plenty of people in the christian music biz who are wondering the same thing about you also (if you are trying to break into that scene).

ReplyDeleteHey Josh, thanks for the update :) I would love to adopt one of those little kittens but I am many miles away from Nashville. A friend of mine had kittens for a bit last year. I have never seen them so small before! It truly is a remarkable sight. Not as much fun when they start climbing over everything :)

It's funny, because I'm in the same situation as you in regards to a band. I'm a vocalist, but I can't come across any otter musicians to at least get something started! Haha. I have a strong feeling that making music is my calling in life, and that God has given me the gift in my passion for music and skills in the arts.
I'm not sure if it means much, but if you really are looking for a singer, I wouldn't mind getting in contact if you all are interested. It's worth asking, I mean..you can't help what you don't know. I just wanted you to know that I miss you and your brother so much. If you ever doubt that you've affected people's lives know that you've affected mine more than you will ever know. Paramore WAS my favorite band, but now that you're gone I really don't care any more. You've taught me to listen to my heart, to believe myself, to go after what I want and achieve it no matter what. ReplyDeleteI must say that, from his departure and his brother Zac Farro, I did not know which way I would if I had to choose one side or not was definitely confused, after finding a band that I synchronized, I felt happy, you spend an infectious energy is not only shake his head back and forth jumping, screaming, rock and roll, finally haha, I felt like a needle in a haystack with the change in the Paramore, but all the choices that we want and you and your brother did his and I will support their luck today with your family cat, the new band, which is good like, I will support the happiness, the performance, when Paramore is adapting, rebounding, passing and I will not abandon any of you, I thought I should say that.

ReplyDeleteI wish to be Jenna :D So that everytime I sing, my husband would play a guitar for me, and enjoy and make good music together - music which we would offer to God.. i can sing but i would also like to play different styles with my violin, along with your mad guitar skills. Then our children would be talented musicians, may it be classical, rock, any kind. Our family would have a band, we would be playing on the basement along with our kids during their school breaks. ReplyDelete@mr-raccoon Sorry but I think you're incorrect. Josh always mentioned while in Paramore that they were Christians however that they're not a christian band. He said that being christian would influence their music because it is a big part of their lives however he said that that doesn't mean that they're "out to preach to kids" and that they just wanna make good music. So the argument that Josh had contradicted himself is not correct. I hope not to initiate a debate with you I would just like you to do some research before making accusations.

I don't know if the word of a minister will encourage you, but I am glad that you two got out. I loved your music there. And I am glad that you stood up for what you felt was right. Conviction is more important than success, any day.
I am fully convinced more than ever that the record industry is not interested in great music, as it is in great marketing and sales. Clearly, you two felt as if you weren't important in the band, and when lead singers don't shore up behind the men and women in their band that makes the music possible, that is something that can't be blamed on you guys. Nothing makes my skin crawl more than when powerful organizations use people to make themselves rich. Don't be fooled folks, Hayley (and Paramore?) may be successful, but Atlantic records can shut her down in the blink of an eye ...
Rock on for Jesus (using words if necessary). Shine light in dark places, especially in places of oppression.

ReplyDeleteGood to hear you're doing well, hopefully your brother is well too: I always looked up to you two in particular whenever I saw Paramore perform, and I could tell you guys were coming from a good heart. It's very sad how the music industry can grind people into a pulp...it's so depressing watching interviews with Haley now, she seems so down all the time now. It's simply not fair what's happened, period :(

ReplyDeleteI just want to say that I miss you guys a lot. I know you won't listen to a single word I say after this sentence, but hear me out. Get back together with Paramore.
First I would love to start off by addressing your faith. You talk a lot about God and how it's such a huge part of your life. Bull shit. If you were a true believer in God, you would know what forgiveness is and be able to forgive your former band mates. Forgive Hayley and Jeremy. That is probably the biggest act and form of God. If Taylor was able to do it, why can't you guys? I would also like to state that I'm also a Christian. There's been a lot of shit in my life that I have to live through and forgive. I never run away from my problems, but rather I face them to become stronger. I learn to love and forgive.
Also, being in the band Paramore is a sign from God. It is your purpose in life to be a part of this band. If not, then why are you a guitarist? Why are your musical talents currently being wasted as you wait for another person to show up? Hayley WAS that person. And you shouldn't get caught up in what happened in the past and never should take it seriously. Business is business, and it sucks shit. Your thoughts of Hayley and Jeremy trying to take over the band are false. It's purely marketing, nothing personal. Managers have to find ways to create a marketable band for society to like. Hayley was the key, she was the voice, the one to bring Paramore out of the darkness and into the light. Without her, Paramore wouldn't be what it is today. As sad as reality is, the band is nothing without its lead singer. Why do you think musicians like Journey, Gotye, Bee Gees, Jimmy Eat World, Josh Groban, and so forth are so memorable? Yes because of the musical style, but most importantly their voices. People remember the voices. God meant to have you play guitar in the band Paramore and Hayley be the voice of the band. If not, why did you meet her in the first place? Along with Jeremy, he's a hell of a bassist.
It's wild how much I totally agree with everything you say. A lot of the stuff that's gone on isn't very Christian. I'm not a follower myself because I don't want to associate myself with hypocrites like this, but I do believe in the values and moral teachings of Christianity. Most people who follow a religion don't actually enact the principles properly.
DeleteI want to conclude by saying how faithful I am to Paramore. Just like every other fan, I'm a diehard Paramore fan, collect all of the studio albums, and am upset with this stupid band break up, even today. You and your new band “Novel American” aren't going anywhere, and Paramore is still there for you. If I were you, I would face my fears and continue my passion for music by rejoining with Paramore. It's never too late to change one's mind. (Sorry, got a little off topic there). Most importantly, the lyrics you and Hayley write are like magic. I can relate to every single word you guys create and perform. I've listened to your songs through the good and the bad times. I'm even pissed off because it's so difficult to download your guys demos such as Hello Hello, Love Sick Melody, everything! Just the things you and Zach create with Paramore brings more meaning to my life. Your guys’ musical talents along with Paramore’s musical talents are…. I don’t even know how to describe it. It’s that influential.

If not, why would this many people be upset with you and Zach. Why would the lyrics you and Hayley create be meaningful to the whole world? Why do you have the musical talents that you have now? Why aren't you going anywhere in your current music career? I've been waiting to hear from your new band for a while now.
From one Christian to another, you should never use God as a shield, but more of a way to strengthen your life. You guys were all young and were probably going through a lot of stuff, so forgiveness is always key.
Thank goodness I finally posted about my feelings, because it's been eating the hell outta me for a while. Well there ya go Farro brothers. I don't care whether you care to read this or not, just want to let you guys know FINALLY how I feel about you both leaving the band.

ReplyDeleteWell I can't believe how you think it is because of the Christian God and Jesus that animals have instincts? Has it ever occurred to you that you are Christian because that happens to be the faith of your family? What if you were born in Pakistan? Would you be a Christian then? Ever heard about critical thinking? The world isn't in one particular way just because you believe so.
ReplyDeleteBefore today, I had only heard "The Only Exception" by Paramore, and now I think I've played it a total of 1,000 times on my guitar and I might play it for some talent show thing. So I assumed this was Paramore's average genre, and I found "Brand New Eyes". "Ignorance", "Careful", and "Playing God" really made me sad. I was sad that Hayley had compromised her faith for the sake of music. At least, that's how I see it.
ReplyDeleteI know you're probably sick and tired of hearing about Paramore stuff, but I just wanted to say that I am very proud of you and your brother for following the Lord and leaving the band. So I guess I'm done now... and sorry that this is like two years after the whole Paramore thing. :/ Sorry.

ReplyDeleteWhen i figured out you guys broke up didn't no what to say but as much as i loved your songs especially Playing God, that's one of my favorites, i realized no matter how great the songs are it dose not mean the band is perfect together i just hope your happy with this breakup but i suggest you listen to emergency one more time i really think she did care.I think you should give her one more chance im sure you enjoyed making songs and preforming them with her.
